Marina di Pietrasanta is the side of Versilia where sand meets pine forest: a seafront of beach clubs backed by one of Tuscany's loveliest coastal woods.

Four resorts in one

The Pietrasanta coastline includes Focette, Motrone, Tonfano and Fiumetto. Tonfano was the first to be settled, by fishing families in the 19th century. In the middle of the coast is the pier, opened in June 2008.

D'Annunzio once rode through the Versiliana pines: today people come for a talk at the Caffè.

The Versiliana Park

About 80 hectares of holm oaks, pines, dunes and small streams: the last piece of the ancient "Macchia di Marina" woodland that once ran from Cinquale to Motrone. Inside stands Villa La Versiliana, built in 1886: writer Renato Fucini gave it its name and Gabriele D'Annunzio stayed here in 1906. Over the Fiumetto stream you can still see the Ponte del Principe, from 1785-86.

The La Versiliana Festival

The park has been public since 1980 and every summer hosts the La Versiliana Festival: open-air theatre, concerts, talks at the Caffè with guests from culture and current affairs, exhibitions and children's activities. The programme is published each year by the Fondazione Versiliana.
