Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore: from Viareggio the Cinque Terre make a very doable day trip by train.

Getting there

The train from Viareggio to La Spezia Centrale takes 40–50 minutes on average. From La Spezia, take a regional train on the La Spezia–Levanto line, which stops in all five villages. Leave the car: the villages are tiny and parking is hard.

The Cinque Terre Card

The Cinque Terre Train Card gives unlimited second-class regional trains between La Spezia and Levanto, access to paid trails and the Park's buses. It's personal: bring ID. Prices and rules are on the Cinque Terre National Park website.
