Viareggio Carnival: tickets, dates and practical tips

Going to the Viareggio Carnival is easy once you know how it works. Here's what to know before you go, based on the official website.
The dates
The float parades, the Corsi Mascherati, take place on the seafront. For 2027 the official site lists six parades between 30 January and 20 February, including the Giovedì Grasso parade (4 February). The full programme is on viareggio.ilcarnevale.com.
Six parades, floats as tall as buildings and a whole town in costume.
Tickets
- Buy online on the official site or at the entrances on parade days.
- Tickets aren't in your name.
- The season ticket covers all six parades and is sold at a discounted pre-sale price until 24 December (limited numbers).
- There's also an Open ticket, valid for one parade of your choice, and a grandstand supplement for a seat.

Tips for the day
- Come by train: Viareggio station is a few minutes' walk from the route.
- Dress in layers and wear comfy shoes: you'll be standing for hours.
