The Viareggio Carnival 2027 already has its calendar: the Fondazione Carnevale has published the dates of the six Corsi Mascherati, the parades of giant papier-mâché floats along the seafront. Here is everything that is official today (4 November 2026), with sources, and a clear list of what has not been announced yet. Where we use figures from the 2026 edition we say so, so you know they are only a reference.

Official 2027 parade dates

According to the official website of the Fondazione Carnevale di Viareggio, the parades run from 30 January to 20 February 2027:

Note the time of the last parade: the official site says 4 pm, while some local papers report 5 pm. The Fondazione is the reference, but check again a few days before. Parades can also be postponed for bad weather; the ticket rules are in the regulations on the official site.

Six parades from 30 January to 20 February 2027: the season pass is cheaper if you buy it by 24 December.

Where the parades take place

The floats move along a loop circuit set up on the seafront, on viale Marconi and viale Carducci, between via Colombo and via Zanardelli. Entrances are at piazza Mazzini, via Vespucci, via Saffi, viale Marconi and viale Margherita. Each parade lasts about three hours and, according to the Fondazione, draws around 100,000 spectators on average.

Every year there are four competition categories: nine first-category floats, five second-category floats, seven group masquerades and ten single masks, plus some floats outside the competition. The 2026 edition was won by Luca Bertozzi with the float “In bocca al lupo”. The titles and themes of the 2027 floats have not been presented yet.

2027 tickets: the season pass for all six parades

Already official is the 2027 cumulative ticket, valid for all six parades:

You can buy it at the ticket office of the Cittadella del Carnevale (tel. +39 0584 580740, biglietteria@ilcarnevale.com), in participating Conad shops in Versilia and in Farmacity pharmacies in Viareggio. The Fondazione also mentions Conad shopping vouchers and a Farmacity discount with the pass.

Single tickets, grandstand and Open ticket

For a single parade the official site lists: an entry ticket for a parade with a date chosen at purchase, a special price for Giovedì Grasso (4 February), a grandstand supplement for a seat, an Open ticket valid for any one parade without a fixed date, and a Gold package. The 2027 price list is published with “from” prices: as reported by Lucca24 from the Fondazione's site, entry starts at €16.50, Giovedì Grasso at €15, the grandstand supplement at €25, the Open ticket is €25 and Gold starts at €70.

For reference, in 2026 the official price list was: standard entry €22, under-14 reduced €16.50, entry plus grandstand €45 and the special Giovedì Grasso entry €15. The Fondazione said single-ticket prices stay the same as last year, but check the detailed price list on the official site before buying.

The programme beyond the parades

Throughout the period the Fondazione announces side events: neighbourhood parties (feste rionali), shows, balls, exhibitions, cultural events and activities for children. The detailed 2027 calendar of the neighbourhood parties has not been published yet.

How it went in 2026: the evening neighbourhood parties, with music, masks and food stalls serving local dishes, were held at Rione Vecchia Viareggio (31 January–1 February), Rione Marco Polo (5–7 February), CarnevalDarsena in via Coppino (13–17 February, the longest party) and Rione Croce Verde Centro (20–21 February), usually from 7 pm with free entry. A similar pattern is likely, but wait for the official programme.

The Cittadella and the Carnival Museum

The floats are built in the Cittadella del Carnevale in via Santa Maria Goretti: workshop hangars around a large square, home to the Carnival Museum. On parade days the museum opens only in the morning (9 am–1 pm). Entry is free for children up to 11 accompanied by an adult. For the history of the carnival, born on 25 February 1873, read our guide to the history of the Carnival.

Getting there and where to stay

Viareggio station is about a 13-minute walk from the sea, and the train is the easiest way to arrive. By car you take the A12 motorway or the Via Aurelia, but traffic is rerouted and parking is reduced: everything is in our guide to parking, trains and shuttles for the Carnival. With little ones, also read the Carnival with kids.

On Carnival weekends accommodation fills up early: the Fondazione itself suggests staying elsewhere in Versilia or in well-connected cities like Pisa or Lucca if needed. To choose an area, see our guide where to stay in Versilia.
