Markets in Versilia: days, places and what to find

For many people the market is the best moment of the holiday: stalls, chatter and a bargain or two to take home.
Forte dei Marmi
The most famous is the Wednesday market in Piazza Marconi, all year from 8 am to 1:30 pm: clothes, cashmere, leather goods, homeware. From Easter to the end of October there's also a smaller Sunday market, and from June to September a Friday market at Vittoria Apuana. See also what to see in Forte dei Marmi.
In Forte dei Marmi, Wednesday isn't just a day of the week: it's an appointment.
Pietrasanta
On the first Sunday of the month there's Antiquari a Pietrasanta in Piazza Statuto and Piazza Crispi, 9 am–8 pm: antiques, mid-century, vintage. In early November the San Martino Fair brings food and crafts to the centre.

Lucca
Lucca's antiques market takes place on the third Sunday of the month and the Saturday before, in the squares around San Martino Cathedral: a good excuse for a day trip to Lucca.
Tips
- Arrive early: parking and the best items go fast.
- Carry cash, even though many stalls take cards.
- Dates and times may change for holidays or bad weather: check official sources.
